Colin Peterson had a game-high 20 points and the Sehome boys' basketball team won 55-44 against at Blaine in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, Dec. 2, after holding the Borderites to single-digits in the second and third quarter.
Blaine jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and led 25-24 at halftime. Blaine wasn't able to keep up its defense in the second half as Sehome outscored the Borderites 31-21 after the break.
"We played well defensively in the first half," Blaine coach Dougal Thomas said in a phone interview. "Second half we did not match Sehome's intensity. They just came out and outplayed us."
Andrew Miller and Dustin Dhanani shared a team high 10 points for Blaine, but there was no answer for Sehome's Peterson and John Albert who had 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Borderites (0-2) travel to La Conner for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off Saturday, Dec. 4, and Sehome (1-0) hosts Anacortes at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7.
