Sehome falls on road to hot-shooting Mount Vernon

- THE BELLINGHAM HERALD

A day after a solid win against Anacortes, the Sehome boys' basketball team traveled to Mount Vernon and lost 66-50 in Northwest Conference action on Tuesday, Jan. 31. The loss dropped the Mariners to 12-6, 8-3 NWC while the Bulldogs improved to 8-10, 7-4. Sehome fell behind by 11 points at halftime and was unable to recover from the deficit after halftime. Mount Vernon made it more difficult for Sehome as it made 13 3-pointers. "We just came out not ready to go," Sehome coach A.J. LaBree said in a phone interview. "That really cost us when you are playing a team shooting as well as they did." Gabe Sanchez led the Mariners with 21 points and Noah Cyr-Moore added 10 points. Mount Vernon was led by Thor Vopnford's 20 points. Sehome next hosts Ferndale at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3.
