PREP BOYS' BASKETBALL: Defense leads Sehome past Blaine

Defense was the key of the game for the Sehome boys' basketball team and it held on to defeat Blaine 51-42 in Northwest Conference action on Friday, Jan. 21, at Sehome.

The Mariners (12-3, 6-2 NWC) limited the Borderites to three points in the first quarter and 10 points in the first half. Sehome led 26-10 at halftime.

"Our defense played at a really high level," Sehome coach A.J. LaBree said in a phone interview.

Colin Peterson led the Mariners with 16 points while Charlie Linneman and John Albert each had nine points.

Blaine (2-13, 0-8 NWC), which rallied to score 21 points in the third quarter, was led by Andrew Price's 16 points.

Sehome will host Lynden in its next game at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, while Blaine hosts Meridian at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25.
